Formerly, i.e. up to 2005, I would place the eggs in a pan of cold water, bring to the boil and boil for about three-and-a-half minutes - for large eggs - for a perfect result.
Now, I find that boiling just for 2 minutes 20 seconds produces a slightly over-done egg.
Any ideas?
